  ::: Home - Welcome to Lulubelle's Website :::
Hi, my name is Lulubelle, I am a long-haired Chihuahua and I'm very glad you're visiting my website.

Hello, my name is Lulubelle and I am a Long-Haired Chihuahua (also referred to as a Long Coated Chihuahua dog). Nope, I'm not a "Taco Bell Chihuahua" type of dog. He has no hair and thus a Short Coated Chihuahua doggie. I have long, silky hair (or, better yet, I will have long and silky hair when I get older). Mommy created this website as a labor of love and also to let others know that there's a different type of Chihuahua aside from the Short Coat.

Mommy adores animals and love to show pictures and share stories. Our family website is CuteFamilyPets.com - a free site for animal lovers online for six years. CFP deals with all types of animals (including Chis), but Mommy wanted a central location exclusively for Chihuahuas and Lil' me. Do I wish to be famous like Paris Hilton's Chihuahuas or super-famous like the Beverly Hills Chihuahua? Nope! I'm not a Beverly Hills Chihuahua or a Hollywood movie star. I just want to be me and have some fun. Mom receives a ton of emails asking about me, especially about my tiny red sweater. It's so hard to find affordable doggie clothes and accessories nowadays! If you have found such a place, let me know! This website is a central location for me to make friends. Submit your pictures and your stories. Let's spread Chihuahua passion all over the Internet.

Lulu Comment:  Summer is almost over and I'm going to miss going to the beach.  I hate cold weather.  Is it cold where you're at?  Send me a picture of you in the snow.

Q: Is Lulubelle the Long-Haired Chihuahua for sale?
A: She is our precious baby and - no -- she is not for sale.
Q: Does Lulubelle like to play alot?
A: Mostly, Lulubelle loves to sit on my lap and watch the Cesar Millan show. She also adores Miley Cyrus.
Q: Is Lulubelle a mixed dog breed?
A: No, Lulu is a purebred Long-Hair Chihuahua dog (also known as Long Coated Chihuahua). Her AKC papers have not been filed since we have no intention of breeding her.
Q: Hello from New England. Does Lulubelle Chihuahua have a page on myspace or youtube?
A: Nope, not at this time, but....that's a thought.

Q: Is Lulubelle potty trained?
A: Yes, crate training was effective and she was potty trained within 2 weeks. She has not had a "potty accident" indoors since then.

Quick Tip on how we potty trained Lulubelle. It worked for us (although it may not work for you; this is just our unprofessional opinion): As a puppy, anytime she was unsupervised, she would be in her crate (very short periods of time). The moment she came out of her crate, we would take her to the designated potty location. No exceptions. If we were playing with her, every 1/2 hour-45 minutes, we would take her to her potty location, also after eating and napping. Chihuahuas are bright -- she caught on pretty quickly where she was supposed to go potty.

Teach Your Puppy To Chew On Toys And Not On Items Around The House
By Betty Young

Training you puppy always requires repetition and consistency. You must establish yourself as the master and your puppy must understand that he is to follow your instructions. Puppies have a desire to please their owners. Repetition and consistency are the keys that will help your doggie learn and understand a command. Provide several chew toys and teach your puppy and help him to develop proper chewing habits.

Keep the doggies’ area of the house clean and clear of items that you don’t want your doggie to chew. A puppy will naturally chew anything that is in his reach. Train you doggie to play with chew toys and teach him to greet you with a chew toy. Always encourage him to use a toy when he greets anyone.

Praise you puppy when he does something right. Your dog will learn from your consistent and constant praise that he is loved and he will learn to obey your commands. Don’t raise your voice or shout at your puppy as this will only confuse him.

If you leave a purse or shoes in his area he will likely chew on them and usually will ruin you purse or shoes. When you find your puppy with your shoe in his mouth, gently remove the shoe and replace it with one of his favorite toys. Remember you left the shoe where he could find it.

It’s important to train your doggie when he is little and he does not have to unlearn his bad habits. Start training your doggie early.

Beverly Hills Chihuahua Movie

The Beverly Hills Chihuahua movie has made its debut, with top ratings, but please -- oh please -- if you fell in love with the Chihuahua breed, do not go buy a Chihuahua on a whim.  As with any dog breed, dog ownership requires responsibility.  Oftentimes when these movies come out,  people rush to adopt the dogs, then weeks later the shelters are inundated with unwanted animals.  It is truly sad.  Chihuahuas are cute and adorable, but they require work (as with any dog).  It's not all fun and games.

Enjoy the movie....we did, very much.
