Q: Is Lulubelle the Long-Haired Chihuahua for sale?

A: She is our precious baby and - no -- she is not for sale.
Q: Does Lulubelle like to play alot?
A: Mostly, Lulubelle loves to sit on my lap and watch the Cesar Millan show.  She also adores Miley Cyrus.
Q: Is Lulubelle a mixed dog breed?
A: No, Lulu is a purebred Long-Hair Chihuahua dog (also known as Long Coated Chihuahua).  Her AKC papers have not been filed since we have no intention of breeding her.
Q: Hello from New England.  Does Lulubelle Chihuahua have a page on myspace or youtube?
A: Nope, not at this time, but....that's a thought.
Q: Do you own her siblings?
A: No, her siblings are owned by family members and two co-workers.  We keep in touch with them quite often.
Q: How many questions you gonna answer?
A: You keep writing, I'll keep answering :)
Q: Are the 2 black Chihuahuas part of the same litter?
A: Yes, they are Lulubelle's sisters, Nani (female) and Soli (female).  The other siblings are Mia (female), Minnie (female), and Bravo (the only male).
Q: Why can't I have Lulubelle?
A: Please see the first reply above.

Most frequently asked questions about Lulubelle

Q:  Is Lulubelle potty trained?
A:  Yes, crate training was effective and she was potty trained within 2 weeks.  She has not had a "potty accident" indoors since then.

Quick Tip on how we potty trained Lulubelle.  It worked for us (although it may not work for you; this is just our unprofessional opinion):  As a puppy, anytime she was unsupervised, she would be in her crate (very short periods of time).  The moment she came out of her crate, we would take her to the designated potty location.  No exceptions.  If we were playing with her, every 1/2 hour-45 minutes, we would take her to her potty location, also after eating and napping.  Chihuahuas are bright -- she caught on pretty quickly where she was supposed to go potty.

Getting to know Lulubelle Chihuahua fact
When Grandpa plays the piano,
I howl like a wolf as he plays.
 Don't ask me why,
but it brings out the "wild" side of me.

Q:  Is Lulubelle a teacup Chihuahua?
A:  Nope!  There is no such thing as a "teacup" Chihuahua.  We do not know how and where the term originated, but it must have been at the same time and place that originated these other terms:  toy Chihuahua, pocket-size Chihuahua, and miniature Chihuahua.  Let's just say that when those terms are used, it is assumed or presumed that the dog is small, petite or tiny.  However, backyard breeders and puppy mills have been known to use the term to increase the dog's value.  A Chihuahua is just that....a Chihuahua.  Teacup or not, each is valuable in our eyes.

Q:  Why do you take so many pictures?
A:  Because they're with us for such a short period of time (12-18 years).  They grow too quickly and I like capturing each moment in pictures.  Each of our dogs have 2 or 3 photo albums.

Q: Why did Lulubelle take a bottle?
A: The mom developed preclampsia and all the puppies had to be bottle fed.
Q: Where can I buy a Chihuahua?
A: The Humane Society is a good place to search for one.  There are so many little dogs (and large ones) needing a home.
Q: Does Lulubelle bite?
A: No, she doesn't bite.  She doesn't even growl.
Q: Are you sure Lulubelle is not a Pomeranian?
A: Yes, we're positive.  The two dog breeds resemble each other but Lulu is a Chi.
Q: Is Lulubelle a yappy dog?
A: I would say that all dogs are yappy if a stranger invades their territory.  It's the only way she has of communicating to us their presence.  Is Lulu she a routine yapper?  No, not really.
Q: Your Chihuahuas do not look like the Taco Bell dog.
A: The Taco Bell dog (to our understanding) is a Short-Coated Chihuahua.  Lulubelle is Long-Hair Chihuahua, which looks slightly different.
Q: Do you want Lulubelle to be famous like Paris Hilton's Chihuahuas?
A: Good grief -- No!  Lulubelle cannot handle any more attention.  We want Lulubelle to continue just being the baby in our family.  The closest she comes to being near a celebrity (Martha Stewart) is when she hugs her Martha Stewart blankie.  Lulubelle does not not wish or hope to become a celebrity, but it's a cute thought.
Q: Did you train Lulubelle?
A: I have determined that this tiny breed is a bit more stubborn and difficult to train than other breeds (then again, I'm not a dog trainer so that could be it).  For example, Lady (my Flat-Coated Retriever Mixed Breed dog) learns commands in 2-3 days.  Lulubelle and Tobi take substantially longer.
Q. Do you spoil Lulubelle with lots of toyz?
A. Yes, very much so.  I don't feel you can "spoil" anything that has feelings.  Lulubelle and Tobi know that they are loved.
Q: Is Lulubelle full grown? What color is she?
A: Yes, Lulubelle is now considered full grown, and she's still a slightly blonde long hair Chihuahua.  Oftentimes, her fur looks light brown, but 9 out of 10 times, she still looks like a dirty blonde doggie.  Long blonde coat or brunette coat, they still get the same attention.
Q: Can I copy your Chihuahua images?
A: For personal use....yes.  For commercial use or financial gain....no!  In either case, please "ASK BEFORE COPYING ANY OF OUR LONG HAIRED CHIHUAHUA IMAGES."   These image photos are available as "Chihuahua stock photography" for a negotiable fee.
Q: Does Lulubelle get along with cats?
A: I used to own cats a very long time ago (way before we had Lulu in our lives).  We love felines and know Lulubelle would get along with a kitten fabulously.
Q: Who's that other puppy wearing Lulubelle's sweater?
A: You must have seen the picture of her sister Mia wearing that red sweater.  Lulu is not selfish; she allowed her siblings to borrow her clothing once in a while.
Q: Do long coated Chihuahuas shed more than the Short Coated breed?
A: I'm not an expert on dog breeds or Chihuahuas, so I can't be sure of the right answer.  I think all dogs and cats shed, long hair or short.  From our own experience we can say that Lulubelle and Tobi do not shed a lot.
Q: My Chihuahua puppy is not eating much.  What can I do?
A: When Lulubelle doesn't feel like eating, I usually boil some chicken breast and she devours it.   Sometimes I think dogs are like humans.  Sometimes they're hungry and sometimes they're not.  If you have concerns about your Chi's health, please call the Veterinarian.
Q: My Chihuahua puppy bites when playing.  Does Lulu bite?
A: Oh yes, how well I remember those puppy biting days.  Yes! In the very early days, Lulu did bite.  All the puppies did.  I believe that's how they learn to play: with their mouth!  It sure did hurt!  I nipped that habit by screaming "Ouch" anytime teeth touched skin, and the playing stops.  Pretty soon they got the hand of not biting when playing.
Q: What collars for walking Chihuahuas are good?
A: I can't help you on this one because I'm not sure.  Lulubelle has a few collars, but she doesn't wear them 98% of the time.  What she does wear often is a body harness.  I like that much better than placing collars around her sensitive little neck.
Q: How long should a puppy stay with his mom?
A: Ideally, for ever.  Wouldn't it be wonderful if they could be raised side-by-side?  I'm not sure of the answer to this question, but I'm guessing a puppy should stay with its mom for at least 2-3 months.
Q: Where can I find more information on a Lulubelle dog?
A: I'm sorry Kasie, but I'm not sure what you mean.  Please write back and let me know so I'll know how to respond to your question.
Q: Do you have any newborn teacup chihuahua pictures?
A: Lulu has quite a few newborn pictures of herself throughout the website.  We do not refer to any Chihuahuas as "teacups."
Q. Are long hair Chihuahuas long hair at birth?
A. Not really.  I think all puppies (long haired or short coated) are born kinda bold at birth.   I recall Lulubelle's hair grew as she got older because she didn't have much long hair at birth.
Q: How much play should a Chihuahua puppy have?  Do you walk Lulubelle?
A: Chihuahuas are so tiny that taking them out for a walk (like a large dog) is not necessary.  Lulubelle runs around the house twice and that's enough exercise for her tiny body for a few days.  No, seriously, a family pet needs to play.  The more playtime, the better, I always say.
Q. When do puppies start on solid food?
A. Hmmmm....I don't exactly recall when we started feeding Lulubelle solids.  I think it may have been around the time period of 3-4 months (I may be wrong).  I do distinctly remember she had a wonderful time eating off a bowl and getting the hang of it.
Q, I want a pocket size Chihuahua.  Can you help me get one?
A. Sorry sweetheart.  I can't.  Thanks for writing and let us know if you get one.  Be sure to submit a photograph.
Q. The Long Coated Chi's, are they affordable?
A. It all depends on what you can afford and also where you purchase your pet. If you select them at the Animal Society, they're relatively inexpensive.
Q. Do you have any solid brown Chihuahua pictures?
A. Yes, look on the left hand side of this page.  There's an adorable solid brown Chihuahua puppy image.
Q: Can you create an animation image of my puppy like Lulubelle's?
A: Only if you want it exactly as it is below since I created that template a long time ago and have forgotten how I did it.  Send me the photograph and I'll work on the blinky, but I can't promise a quick turn-around-time, and I can't even promise that I'll be able to get to it at all.....but I'll give it my best shot.  Also, please specify the color you wish and the puppy's name.  Hugs :)
Q: Does Lulubelle still think she's pregnant?
A: Oh yes, the false pregnancy.  That was the weirdest thing Lulu has experienced!! She truly acted as though she were pregnant and we were so very worried.  The vet reassured us it would only last a few days, and it did.  She's back to normal.  Now that we think about it, it was kinda of amusing.
